How do Google Cloud, AWS and Azure compare?
Most services have a comparable equivalent on each cloud, so the real comparison is what your own workloads would need and cost on each: compute, storage, databases and analytics, sized from what you run today.
Comparing cloud hosting providers takes two sides. Google's Migration Center prices the Google Cloud side: its total cost of ownership report models what groups of your servers and databases would cost on Google Cloud, under several sets of migration preferences. Your current AWS or Azure bills are the other side.

AWS, Azure and Google Cloud services compared
Comparable services on each cloud, as Google maps them. Comparable isn't identical: features and pricing differ, which is why a cost comparison sizes your own workloads.

Committed use discounts
Lower prices for a one- or three-year commitment. Commit to steady usage after rightsizing: a commitment is billed whether it's used or not.
Budgets
Alerts when spend crosses a threshold. An alerts-only budget doesn't cap spending; a spend cap budget pauses supported services until you lift it.

Cloud cost comparison FAQ
What IT and finance leads ask when comparing AWS, Google Cloud and Azure.
Want a comparison for your workloads?
Tell us what you run today and on which cloud, and we'll talk through how a comparison would work.
Is Google Cloud cheaper than AWS or Azure?
There's no general answer. Prices, discounts and the services you'd use all differ by workload, so the useful comparison is your own: what you run today, sized and priced on each cloud.
Which Google Cloud services replace what we run on AWS or Azure?
Most services have a comparable Google Cloud product: Compute Engine for EC2 or Azure Virtual Machines, Cloud Storage for S3 or Blob Storage, BigQuery for Redshift or Synapse Analytics. The table above follows Google's own mapping.
How do we estimate what a move to Google Cloud would cost?
Google's Migration Center builds an inventory of your servers and databases and produces a total cost of ownership report, with several migration scenarios priced side by side. Assets with performance data are sized from it; the rest are estimated, and the report says how many.
How do we keep costs down once we're on Google Cloud?
Rightsize first, then buy committed use discounts for steady usage, since a commitment is billed whether it's used or not. Set budgets with alerts, and use the FinOps hub to see realized savings and the top recommendations.
Can we run Google Cloud alongside AWS or Azure?
Yes. BigQuery Omni queries data in Amazon S3 or Azure Blob Storage without moving it, Cross-Cloud Interconnect connects Google Cloud to AWS and Azure, and GKE attached clusters manage EKS and AKS clusters. Our cloud strategy page covers multi-cloud.
